February/March is a busy time of year for authors. It’s when World Book Day happens, this year March 1st, and many schools hold a Book Week around the same time. World Book Day is organised by a small charity and the financing of it comes mostly from contributing publishers, sponsorship from National Book Tokens Ltd, certain literacy partnerships and other supporters including all the wonderful participating booksellers, who fund the whole cost of the Book Token redemption. Go to the World Book Day website for more information, news and book related ideas and inspiration.
I always feel very lucky when schools, libraries and other institutions invite me to join their Book Week. It’s brilliant to spend time sharing books with the very audience they were intended for. If I’m coming to visit you soon, then I can’t wait to meet you. If you’d like me to visit, then take a look at my visits page.
Whatever you’re doing for World Book Day, have a GREAT one and don’t forget to read, read and READ.
